I wrote this after seeing "I Am Legend". I'm thinking of building a world where survival is a constant battle, but not resorting to going to some Hyperborean age or some distant, dystopic future. This is a world two minutes from now, and this is going to be scary. I think... there are no new, original ideas. It's damn hard to corner a niche in the market and truly profit from that. I would rather write something well-- and succeed at that-- than try and anticipate "The Next Big Thing" in the industry. Why make wild guesses? Why not stick with what people anticipate... and go somewhere else with it? That's what art in any form is about, isn't it? Going somewhere different with it, interpreting an image or world in a different light.
